The standard was incredibly high, and with very few of our team actually playing for a club, they competed really well.
Game 1 was against 3 form entry Robert Arkanstall. They spent most of the time camped in their half but couldn’t create any clear chances and we drew 0-0.
Game 2 was against Fordham B. This was a very similar story- lots of pressure applied but nothing came of it. Another 0-0!
Game 3 they played into eventual Runners Up Ely St John’s. A strong team but they defended well, only giving up one clear chance… which they scored. 0-1.
Game 4 was against Weatheralls, a big Soham school. This time they created lots of chances… but just couldn’t score! 0-0 again.
Sutton were the Game 5 opponents and finally they triple threat up front paid dividends; they scored right at the death! 1-0 win!
Fordham A, the eventual winners, were up next. They were a team full of club players but Isleham managed to restrict them to half chances, until they scored a top corner screamer from the edge of the box. 0-1.
The final game was against Isle of Ely. Tired legs kicked in and they weren’t able to play their natural game. They switched off at the death and gave them an easy chance from a corner, which meant they lost 0-1.
The team finished in 4th place and the girls should be incredibly proud of how they played, as well as their attitude throughout the event. Great job everyone!
