School Games & Sport at Isleham Primary

The children at Isleham C of E Primary School enjoy a wide variety of sporting activities. We offer at least 2 hours high quality physical education each week in addition to lunchtime and playtime or extra-curricular club opportunities. We promote a healthy and active lifestyle for all of our children.

We are fortunate to have a heated school pool on site, so that all of our children can enjoy weekly swimming lessons in the summer term.

In addition, each class enjoys P.E. lessons in gymnastics and dance in the school hall each term, and games and ball skill lessons outdoors on the playing field, or in the playground on a weekly basis. We ensure children enjoy all elements of the P.E. curriculum, and benefit from specialist sports staff leading lessons at Key Stage 2, as well as offering some exciting after-school clubs and lunchtimes.

Children compete in local tournaments, matches and sporting events with neighbouring schools, including in football, multi-skills, cross country and cricket. Many are run by the Witchford Schools Sports Partnership.

Our playground and field are well equipped for active playtimes too with a  playframe, and plenty of space to run; there are organised activities at lunchtimes by our sports leader TA and our trained group of pupil play leaders.

In 2023-24, children will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sporting activities and events. We are incredibly proud of the way children represent the school in sporting activities both within school, in competitions and festivals with local schools and outside of school in local clubs. We participate in 'School Games' activities and the 'Witchford Schools Sports Partnership' events.

The School Games are inclusive to all young people and provides opportunities for everyone to get involved, either within school, against other local schools, or at county or regional level. Some events also act as pathway events to further competition in the future.

Please see our weekly newsletters, website galleries and our School Games Sports Display board in school (by the hall) where you can see results and upcoming events. At the bottom of the page, there is also a list of sports club links for children who want to get involved in sport outside school.
