Miss Bottomley, Mrs Airey, Mrs Goldsack, Mrs Broyles and Miss Carter welcome you to the Year 4 Class of 2020.
Please check back here regularly for news
of what is happening in Year 4 this year.
Please find below the presentation slides about our Summer Term curriculum. This will give further details of learning and expectations in Year 4.
Throughout the autumn term 2020, our Year 4 children achieved a great deal in class with the Year 4 staff, despite the needed Covid-19-safety measures in place, and the confinement to their class bubble.
Some fantastic progress was seen for each individual child
and shared with you in the autumn term reports to parents, virtual class assembly
and via ClassDojo, and in our newsletters.
In the Spring term 2021, we were frustrated that due to the national lockdown, most of our children were required to stay at home again from the 5th January 2021 and carry out remote learning in place of learning on site, but it was great to see the amazing work submitted by our Year 4 children, guided by the videos and tasks put together by Miss Bottomley, Mrs Airey and the team, and thanks to a lot of support from the children's wonderful parents!
The children's learning & development has really been able to continue throughout the 2021 lockdown as a result of all the work put in by school staff and families. The children's ClassDojo portfolios provide wonderful evidence of this. Thank you all.
Our school fully re-opened on 8th March 2021.
It has been so wonderful to have the Year 4 children all back in school again.
We will update our website class pages shortly with overviews for the summer term and details of curriculum information sessions to be run by the staff in April to let you know what is planned for the summer term back in school.
Stone Age Day this year was a great success! We made bread, that we cooked over a fire. A virtual visit from an archaeologist led us through a pre-history timeline and taught us more about how artefacts are used to piece together a picture of the past. Cave paintings were created, with children diving under the tables to imagine being in a cave to complete artwork!
We had a lovely time during Ancient Greek Day. We made pitta pizzas, laurel wreaths, played games and learnt about the Ancient Greek number system. We even had our brass lesson dressed as Ancient Greeks!
